National Institutes of Health Cancer.gov: General information about cancer, including how it develops, general treatment options, some information on complementary medicines, and links to information about specific cancers.

Association of Cancer Online Resources: Patient e-mail lists for numerous cancers provide the centerpiece for this site, which also includes additional patient-oriented information such as a cancer terminology dictionary, information on clinical trials, and other cancer information resources.

OncoLink: Founded in 1994 by cancer specialists at the University of Pennsylvania’s Abramson Cancer Center, OncoLink was really the first site developed to help both the general public and health care professionals with information about cancer. It includes good general information about a wide range of cancers without many specifics, and several sections haven’t been updated in years.

Cancer News from Yahoo: Aggregated news stories on – you guessed it – various topics in cancer – from risk factors and prevention to treatments and survivorship.

People Living with Cancer: Oncologist-approved cancer information for patients, sponsored by the American Society for Clinical Oncology. Fairly general information, but a broad range of topics covered.

MD Anderson Lectures on Cancer: A range of actual video lectures on general introductory topics like what cancer is, broad ideas of how it is treated, the principles of clinical trials, and even how to cope with cancer. Offered by MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.

Introduction to cancer statistics: Offered by the Cancer Information Network, this link offers an introductory discussion of statistics and the idea behind cancer prognosis. Within the site are links to information about specific cancers, as well as other resources.

Amercian Cancer Society: Their website offers some general information, cancer news, information about clinical trials, and other educational contributions.

Nomograms.com: a service offered by the folks at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in NYC, nomograms.org is a website with a several specific calculation applications based on large databases of clinical outcomes, in which odds can be predicted for developing lung cancer, remaining disease free from prostate cancer after surgery, and several other cancer-specific issues. Developed for use by health care professionals.
