Dr. Shirish Gadgeel is currently an Associate Professor in the Medical Oncology Division at Wayne State University Karmanos Cancer Center in Detroit, Michigan.

Dr. Gadgeel received his initial medical training at Grant Medical College and JJ Group of Hospitals at the University of Bombay in Bombay, India before moving to the US to do an internship in Internal Medicine at LaGuardia Hospital in Flushing, NY, and residency in Internal Medicine at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. He then stayed there to complete his fellowship training in Medical Oncology, followed by an additional year of fellowship training specifically in bone marrow transplantation. After serving as an Assistant Professor at Karmanos Cancer Center from 2000 – 2006, he was promoted to the title of Associate Professor in 2007.

Dr. Gadgeel’s clinical and research focus is on lung cancer. He currently serves as the principal investigator on a wide range of clinical trial in lung cancer at his own institution and through SWOG’s Lung Cancer Committee. He has authored several dozen peer-reviewed and summary articles and chapters on current management and new agents in several highly regarded medical journals.
