For those of you in the Pacific Northwest, or with a desire to visit in beautiful November (Lung Cancer Awareness Month), there’s a lung cancer awareness and advocacy event being co-sponsored by my own institution, Swedish Cancer Institute, along with the Univ. of Washington/Seattle Cancer Cancer Alliance, and Virginia Mason Medical Center.  On the evening of November 19th, speakers from these institutions, including myself, along with Laurie Ambrose Fenton from the Lung Cancer Alliance will be speaking on topics ranging from the demographics of lung cancer, to screening efforts, to the stigma of lung cancer, and how to build more momentum for advocacy efforts.  The evening will also include time to mingle and, we hope, join forces together in an effort to gain traction against this disease, with its many barriers.

Importantly, this is a night in which three major medical institutions in Seattle are not seeing each other as competitors, but instead are co-sponsoring this event.

I’ll repost this on LCSC, and our Facebook/myspace groups for our members in that area. Wish I could attend. I hope it’s great!
