We continue Dr. Mehta’s webinar presentation with a discussion of the potential mechanisms by which we may be able to improve the efficacy and safety of radiation for lung cancer.  This leads to a discussion of the rationale for stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), which is very focal radiation administered over just a few treatments at a relatively high dose each time, rather than several weeks of lower dose radiation over a broader area.

Here are the video and audio versions of the podcast on this part of the webinar, along with the transcript and figures for the program:

We’ll continue with his coverage of some of the early successes in clinical research and still open questions on the SBRT strategy. Look for that next podcast in the coming days.

On the last slide of this presentation there is a mention that high dose radiation can create a cascade effect. Is there some more information or data to support this claim?
