double trouble

I was able to enter my signature information, but can’t edit it. I’ve posted twice, but the signature is not appearing at the bottom like on the old site. Is that a new feature or will that change?

I tried to upload my avatar but nothing happened.

Where are PM’s?

double trouble

When visiting the archived forums I didn’t see a link to bring me back here. I had to use the back button on my browser toolbar.

I’ve been trying to find, but have already lost, Gail’s post (in the last 48 hours) entitled “Clinical Trial”. It is not in “Clinical Trials and Development”, or in “General Forum” activity, and there doesn’t seem to be a way of bringing up recent posts. So I would like to reply to her but can’t.
I know it’s a small thing, and perhaps a sense of humour failure on my part, but I really don’t think “Howdy” is the way to welcome people who may be worried/upset/reporting a death and so on.

Thank you Debra! You see I have emerged from the surgeon’s hands unscathed, only a little sore and possibly a little grumpy.

Hi Certain Spring –
the ‘Howdy’ is a dashboard/backdoor thing that is a wordpress standard. We didn’t put that in there… I am not sure if we can change that. I will put it on the list to look into – you are correct that it may not necessarily be the right terminology for our site.

We did just recently add a feed on the lower right sidebar that shows the new forum posts and responses.

Also note that at the top of each forum post (so scroll to the top of this page, for instance) there is a green bar that has “Author Posts | Subscribe Add this topic to your favorites” – these are links. if you want to subscribe to the topic, or add this topic to your favorites, click these and then they will list in your profile under these headers.

Also notice the checkbox at the bottom that says Notify me of follow-up replies via email.

Again – we will continue to improve! thanks for all your help, everyone.

I still can’t upload a photo to my profile. Also, I can see my signature in my profile but I’m not sure if my signature will post when I send this message.

Thanks very much, Denise. I am sure this has been a major effort, and ungracious old Luddites like me will get there in the end.
For the future, might it be possible to have a “preview” function for forum posts and replies, as before?

Certain Spring, was this meant as humor “You see I have emerged from the surgeon’s hands unscathed, only a little sore and possibly a little grumpy” or did you really undergo surgery? I hope everything is fine with you,

Myriam

I’m sorry that with the switch to the new version of the forums, the old messaging tool is gone. We will be working on things like a member search function/directory, and also for a messaging option. Right now, the tools are relatively limited, but we’re chasing down new ones as quickly as we can, and more are likely to be available soon.

Hi Laya,

Sorry about the avatar hiccup. To fix the avatar upload problem, I had to reinstall the plugin that handles them, which “poofed” all of the images. While we still have a few issues with the signatures that I’m still working on, hopefully I won’t have to reset the avatars again.

Thanks for your patience with all of this – things are going to get better and better. :)

Cheers,

-Mark

the geezer

How do I get the Signature to work?
e.g.
First diagnosed Stage IV Squamous LC Right Lung 3/06. Went thru chemo, then Lobectomy.
Squamous skin cancer 07.
Thought we were home free until 6/10: Adenocarcinoma LC in Left Lung. Had resection.
Then 5/11 diagnosed w/3 Brain Lesions. WBR & 2 Gamma Knife; waiting on final results.
BTW, heavy smoker for over 50 years. Tried to quit, but LC cinched it.

Dr. West, I just noticed that when I go to a particular post, there is an overlap between the actual posts and the ‘recent posts’ section on the right-hand side – I don’t know if this has been reported yet, but just in case…

Thank you again and to Denise and your webmaster for all the great tech work,

Myriam
