Well, I checked again and this only happens with the thread that I started (Updating each other in a common thread – in the lung cancer section, general). Bizarre…

Hi Myriam – can you tell me what browser you are using? is it Internet Explorer, Safari, etc.?

Hi Myriam,

Thanks for the report. I do indeed see that problem with FireFox… it wasn’t overlapping on other browsers, so we didn’t notice it before.

Thanks a bunch for the report – we’ll look into this ASAP.

Cheers!

I’ve noticed that it sometimes (not all the time) happens in Safari and Explorer as well. . .

Yes, I have the overlapping thing going on in Explorer.

The archived forums do not accurately keep the profiles or “signatures” of members who participated in the discussion. This is not good. If you are unable to keep the whole profiles, it is better to get rid of them. Partial information can be misleading.

Hi graceabchen – can you email me at dbrock@cancergrace.org or info@cancergrace.org and send me a link to what you are seeing in the archived forums? we have noticed that a few of the accounts had an issue, and are trying to weed these out.
thanks!

I just bugged another member on how to use the site now, it doesn’t seem user friendly at all. I cant even figure out how to check in on grace members to see how they are doing, or ask the drs a question!!!

Hi Erica – I am sorry for the confusion. We are improving slowly, and we appreciate your patience. I know it looks different but you will get used to it, I promise.

I tried to give a good general outline of what we have done and what is on the wish list, here: http://cancergrace.org/general/2012/02/16/weve-accomplished-so-much/.

For the forums, a good place to start is looking at the drop downs from the Discuss menu bar – you will see that the first forum listing is GRACE News/Info – click on that and you can see where members have started discussions there. the second thing in the drop down is Cancer Basics, etc. etc. You will become familiar with the structure if you just click around… you can’t break anything. :) .

Sorry, I know this has been discussed elsewhere, but I can’t find the exchange :(. I have done a new signature on the profile page, and it is definitely there, but it is not showing up on my posts. Could someone tell me what I am doing wrong? Many thanks.

Certain spring,

I just checked your forum profile and your signature field was empty. I’ve put in a test signature and it seems to be working fine.

To edit your signature, click on your user name from any of your posts (or use the new “Profile” link that I’m adding to the top of forums/topics listings on most pages). Once on your forum Profile, click on the Edit Signature link next to your name at the top of the page. You should see a Signature field, which you can edit and then submit.

Let me know if that doesn’t work for you.

Cheers,

-Mark

Thank you Mark, I appreciate the reply when you’ve got so much else going on.
Actually when I go to the Profile page my signature is sitting looking at me, under “Biographical Information”, although it isn’t showing up elsewhere. I’ll have another go using the method you describe.

@certain spring,

The Bio into inside your WordPress Profile is not used for your forum signature.

You need to instead go to your forum profile using the Profile link at the top-right of this page, then click on Edit Signature near the top-left of that page, and then enter your signature into the only open field on the resulting page, and submit your changes.

Good luck. :)

Hi Mark

Are you able to bring thread 1241613 across to new site – I can’t work it out and it’s an ongoing discussion

Thanks for all your hard work, and patience ( as distinct from patients!)

Thank you, Mark.
I wonder if it isn’t perhaps a bit confusing to have two profile pages, one of which applies to the forum and one of which doesn’t? I just went to the icon that said “Profile”, as on the old GRACE site. There’s no way of telling that it’s not applicable to the forums.
I was also perplexed by the distinction between “Biographical infomation” and “Signature”

Hi Gail,

Can you tell me the title of the thread in the Archived Forums that you’re referring to?

There’s no automated way to bring those old forums over to the new forums here, but if it’s not too long, I may be able to do it manually. Another option would be for you to copy/paste your original message into a new topic in the new forums here, and then I can assist with bringing over any Drs’ comments.

In any event, let me know what the thread was and I’ll see what I can do.

Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience,

-Mark

Mark: My signature is not showing up on my posts. I did enter it into the Biography field (which I know is not the right answer)), but then I found what I thought was the right hot link to my “profile” and somehow it was there. There have been places where it shows, but I couldn’t tell you where. When I try to go in and check/update the profile based on the instructions you are posting, the link gives me an error message. So, I am sunk…though it really doesn’t matter. Some day, all info will catch up and we’ll all figure out how to use the new site. Thanks for your hard work.
