Just noticed that a topic I started had new replies that I only found when I went in through my profile, even though I had ticked the notify me of new responses

We’ll check on that. It’s possible that your e-mail may be filtering responses like these coming into your e-mail, as they’re auto-generated and can be presumed to be spam.

I have been getting e-mail alerts of new responses. Is the system working for others, or are people not getting these alerts after asking for them?

Previously got the alerts and do with current items but not with this one that was active during the upgrade.

Thanks as always

Hi Gail – can you check to see if the ‘notify me of new replies’ box is checked for you still? I wonder if somehow it got unchecked in our overnight fixes. Also – did you check your junk email folder… just trying to make sure no stone is unturned!

Post has been closed so I guess I won’ETFet any email alerts as there wont be any.

However is it possible to get it transferred to new site as it is a current discussion item and I need to respond to a few people?

Thanks for all your great work

Gail,

Can you tell me what thread you’re talking about that you wanted to have moved? If you can send a link, that would be great.

Thanks,

-Mark

Hi Mark

Only just saw your response, by chance, so I guess I haven’t quite worked out the new site yet.

Took me a while to find the old post, but success. It’s 1241613 and if it could be transferred that would be great.

Another question – when I go into my profile to look for old posts I don’t get the archived ones. What is the quickest way to find them?

Cheers and thanks

Gail

Hi Gail,

This topic we’re in right now is #1241613, so I’m still not sure what other topic you’re referring to.

Regarding your old posts. The best way to keep track of your forum posts, until we can extend the functionality in the forums, is to subscribe to and/or favorite them, after you make the post. This way, at least the topics will be on your profile page, so you can fairly easily find them.

Another way to find your old posts, is to use the Topics and Replies tabs inside the WordPress Dashboard (click Profile in the main menu when logged in). In these areas, you can skim through all posts/topics in a given subject area. Unfortunately, the search in this are doesn’t work properly on your username, but in your case, you can search for “Gail” (no quotes) and all of your posts will show up, since you always sign them with your name. :)

I hope this helps a bit.

Cheers!

Now I’m really confused. This post is listed at the beginning as 1241734 not 1241613? And I used to think I was computer savvy! The one I am after is titled Clinical Trials and was posted around the 12th of February.

Thanks re your hints re searching. I’m sure I will find everything eventually.

Yeah, the way this forum works is a bit different than you’re probably used to. A topic gets its own ID (notice the topic-1241613 in your browser address bar above as you read this), however, each reply (including your initial post when you create a topic), gets its own ID also, hence why your first post has a different ID than the topic for which it was created. ;) I’ll admit I was confused at first also, until I realized what it was doing. :)

I think this must be the thread you were referring to. It’s in the main Ask Us forum, which was closed and moved as part of our forum organization tweaks. Here’s the original, which is still readable:

http://cancergrace.org/topic/clinical-trial

The new location for Ask Us posts is:

http://cancergrace.org/cancer-101/forum/cancer-basics/general/

Cheers,
