Hi,
Will an abdominal tap/paracentesis scheduled a few days after a keytruda/pembrolizumab infusion (for lung cancer) reduce the effect of the immunotherapy? I'm worried that taking a bunch of fluid out only a few days after the immunotherapy infusion will somehow effect how the immunotherapy is building up in the body. (That will only be keytruda infusion #2.)
Many thanks!
Ty

Hi Ty,
Hi Ty,
Welcome to GRACE. Since treatments such as immunotherapy and chemotherapy are systemic, they are at work against cancer cells throughout the body, wherever they may be found. As a result, removing built-up fluid (or any other portion of the body) should have no impact on the efficacy of that treatment.
I hope you get great, long-lasting results from Keytruda!
