thanks for the reply and article from Dr. Lacouture. He mentions simple blood testing for iron storing abnormalities which could affect hair loss. Do you know what to test for specifically? Ferritin Nurse practitioner is not sure. Thanks?

Yes, a test of ferretin levels would be used to try to rule out other causes of hair loss such as iron-storing deficiencies. Ferretin levels reflect the amount of iron reserves in the body, so if those levels are low that could be a contributing factor in hair loss.
