It is with the heaviest of hearts that I share the news that GRACE has lost one of its most dedicated contributors, Jing Yuan, also known on this site as FaithandHope79.
Jing lost her battle with lung cancer on Tuesday, November 13, 2012. She was 51 years old, born May 20, 1961, in Beijing, China, the daughter of Xinhe and Yizu Yuan. Her profile on this site included her hand drawn sketch of her sister, for whom she provided comfort and care during the final weeks and months of her sister's battle with breast cancer.
In March of this year (2012), Jing celebrated her 5 year survivor milestone, crediting the use of Tarceva and other clinical trial drugs, as well as the excellent care she received from her medical team at Sloan Kettering in New York. She ended her participation in the Afatinib/Cetuximab clinical trial at MSKCC when her cancer progressed after about 9 months on that treatment Jing had become increasingly debilitated over the past few months by pain and fatigue associated with her cancer and damage to her spine.
She is survived by her husband, Hu Wang; son, Kevin Yibo Wang; brother, Dong Yuan; her mother, Yizu Zhu; along with many other family and friends.
Jing was a software engineer for Stony Brook University Hospital...which helps explain her tenacious and detailed efforts to research and share helpful information about the effective treatment of EGFR-related lung cancer and its (most intimate) side effects... including photos and practical use suggestions.
She was a warrior against cancer. FIGHT THE BEAST!. she would tell us today.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Bryant Funeral Home of Setauket. Please visit www.bryantfh.com to sign the online guestbook.

Jing's many postings, particularly on managing the side effects of Tarceva, in this forum are of lasting value that would benefit many future readers in this community. My condolences to her family.

Blue Skies, You've lost a wonderful friend and Grace lost a great contributor and advocate. How difficult to say goodbye to such a person as Jing. I know the sketch was done by her and of her sister, I had to clarify once, I'll always keep that sweet little face in my memory with Jing.
Thank you blue skies for writing that difficult post. We appreciate it so very much.

I can't believe I just found this topic, on the eve of reading of Blue Skies' passing. How sad this is. The combined loss of Jing and Ann is a massive blow. Wishing both their families comfort and the blessings of great memories.

I know. I think about Jing often - most mornings actually, when dealing with my 'crocodile skin', and taking advantage of all her generous practical advice about skin care.
What is nice is that she and Ann (blue skies) got to know each other well, and obviously became very fond of one another.
