I underwent VATS RUL in September and was diagnosed Adenocarcinoma 1A, well differentiated and lepeidic predominant. I thought that was a very good thing but my 6 month CT revealed a 1.7x.7 cm pleural nodule in the right lower lobe. Aside from cancer, could this be something resulting from the surgery? I'm a bit scared here.

H vbushea,
H vbushea,
Welcome to Grace. I'm very sorry you're having this scare after surgery. It's possible that this is inflammation or infection but cancer can't be ruled out. If it were to be cancer it wouldn't be thought to have anything to do with surgery. It would probably be more due to it being there already but too small to pick up on scans. I wish I could tell you to no worry. It would be very appropriate to watch and wait to see what happens. Even with invasive cancers that would a reasonable approach.
I wish you peace while you wait.
All best,
Janine

I had a PET after the CT and
I had a PET after the CT and there was no uptake at all. CT in September revealed the same nodule and was stable. I'm going to try not to waste my time with worry unless I have to. Thank you so much for your response so quickly when I was stressed. It really means a lot.
