HPV vaccine and opdivo - 1293503

I recently heard a little bit about the hpv vaccine combined with opdivo. My mother is currently suffering from extensive small cell lung caller and we are running out of options. She’s now on oral etoposide because the optivo/yervoy? trial didn’t work.

Has anyone heard about this HPV vaccine and optivo? I don’t think it’s for small cell lung cancer, but like many trials, they find out later that it works for other cancers.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi Meredith,

I have not found any current studies of that combination for lung cancer patients. There are studies for patients with head and neck and cervical cancers, but it's important to note that the HPV virus has been demonstrated to cause those types of cancer. That is likely to limit the use of the Opdivo/HPV vaccine combination to those situations.
