Hi
My wife has nsclc stage 4 and is treated with Tarceva and Xgeva.
Our question is: Can she take Zinc based food supplements? We are worried from the possibility that the Zinc will support cells multiplication and interfere with the activity of the Tarceva.

Hi dando,
Hi dando,
I am not aware of any interaction between the two; nothing is mentioned in the Tarceva prescribing information nor have I found any evidence of an interaction. Most supplements, however, have not been tested for interactions with Tarceva, or for that matter whether they confer any anti-cancer benefit.
Dr. Bufi discussed the use of supplements by cancer patients in the post linked here.
