My mom had breast cancer (stage 1)twenty yrs prior to her lung cancer diagnosis in 2014. No BRCA testing with the breast cancer.
I remember at the time of the lung cancer biopsy that the doctor said her tumor had a KRAS mutation. I asked for a copy of report and it also said a BRCA2 and p53 mutation. I immediately asked if this could be the the same BRCA2 that could have caused the BC.
Because if mom is BRCA2 then I need to get tested.
From what I remember onco said no, not to worry. Mentioned about the lung cancer BRCA being from tumor and not from genetics (blood).
Mom passed away. I am worried for me and my daughters.
Can someone please explain the BRCA.

While it's pleasing to see you. It's rarely a good sign to be here. I hope you are well. Much of our faculty are in Vienna at the World Lung Conference and Dr. Cianfrocca our breast cancer specialist is out of her office until next week. I know you've probably read this info but want to give you something to hang a hat of so to speak. I will follow up with Dr. C when she returns so hopefully we can offer some input then.
