How quickly can PE 's develop in cancer patients? Also what are the symptoms...including odd or unusual symptoms? Is coughing from patients with P/E's always non-productive? Please let me know and thank you very much.

It would be unusual for a PE to be associated with a productive cough, but I don't think we could say "never".

The most common symptoms of a PE are shortness of breath, a rapid heart rate, and chest pain, and a PE and the associated symptoms can come on suddenly, pretty much in an instant.
