I have been taking Tagrisso for about three months, and have developed Purpura on my forearms. Is this a known side effect of Tagrisso? These under-skin blood spots are disfiguring, but not painful. They fade in time, but new ones form. Is there a treatment for these? I understand that the condition can be caused by low blood platelets.
Thank you in advance for your response.

Hi grandmahoney,
Hi grandmahoney,
Purpura isn't a common side effect of tagrisso or even one that's gotten mentioned here. I've done a search on google that doesn't come up with anything, though that doesn't mean it's not the cause of your purpura. Sometimes the cause of purpura is an immune dysfunction and that may be caused by the cancer or the drug. All too often the causes of symptoms are never really known though can make a big difference in daily life I hope this doesn't disrupt yours too much. It's important to let your cancer center know about this so they can make a call on it's importance as it concerns you as an individual.
I hope you do well for a long long time.
All best,
Janine
