how long should it be for a person who has had surgery , Vats wedge resection, before he gets a new scan? I was wondering if it would need a certain amount of time to heal first? So avg time frame?

Dr. West has described his preferences for scan intervals after surgery:
"I typically get a repeat CT scan in my patients who have had surgery for lung cancer about every 4-6 months in the first year (the interval depending on the stage and risk of relapse: stage I cancers tend to have a lower risk of relapse, so I may lean more toward every 6 months, vs. every 4 months for higher stage resected NSCLC tumors), then every 6 months for the next three years or so, and then annually." - http://cancergrace.org/lung/topic/post-surgery-scans-only-chest-x-ray/#…
