PET Scan Today - 1255616

Wanted to keep everyone informed. Today was my first PET scan since completing Chemo in December. I will see my Oncologist on Monday and am hoping for a clean report. Keep me in your prayers and thoughts.

Well, I do not really know how to feel? My Oncologist said my lungs were clear but, there was a nodule on my Thyroid with uptake and an area of uptake in my esophagus (very lit up) near the junction to my stomach.

I have an appointment with my Gastro Doctor on Friday and can't get in to see an Endocrinologist until the middle of June. I do not know how to feel about all of this????

Thyroid nodules are exceptionally common. I think the risk factor for them is bothering to look for them, but even when they are biopsy-proven to be a cancer, the risk they pose is orders of magnitude less than a lung cancer (with rare exceptions, they're a cancer that should have an asterisk next to their name, since the prognosis is exceptionally good). It's hard to interpret what the gastro-esophageal junction uptake means, particularly if there wasn't anything very suspicious there on recent prior scans, but the endoscopy should tell a lot.
