Could u tell me why pci radiation is necessary after lung and liver cancer, shes in remission now. I just wanna know why they wanna do radiation to the brain if no cancer is up there?

these links only talking about people with brain tumor. my question is why do pci to the brain if no tumor is up there?

PCI (prophylactic cranial irradiation) is given in an attempt to prevent brain metastases in cases in which there is a high risk of developing such metastases, such as in extensive small cell lung cancer. There is evidence that patients in such circumstances will have better results if they have PCI than if they wait for the brain metastases to develop.
