Dear All,
I have a question concerning safety of taking Tarceva (150) together with various supplements. My mother (diagnosed with NSCLC stage III B) has just started the Tarceva therapy as a first line. But one of the doctors visited before the therapy had prescribed following supplements which are supposed to help with fighting the disease:
Biomarine 1140
Coenzym Q10
Vit E (natural)
Vit C (natural) - Acerola Plus
reishi mashroom
selenium supplement
Ecobetula
My mother also eats a lot of curcumine (I boil one spoon of curcumine in two glasses of water for 5 minutes and she sips it during the day, also a lot of Budwig oil with curcumine, practically added to each daily meal), I also give her Noni and pomegranate juice and beet juice. Some time ago she was eating also B14 seeds, but her doctors didn't allow her any more.
Could you please let me know if any of the above mentioned supplements or components of the diet should be discontinued as possibly interfering with Tarceva? If there are any could you please list them? the the last question - cannabis oil - I have read it has very good results in curing the lung cancer, is it true? are there any clinical trials confirming its strong anticancer action?
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge and experience,
Best regards,
Agnieszka

There has been a lot written on the subject of tarceva and supplements. This is a search results for the two, http://cancergrace.org/search-results?q=suppliments%20tarceva
Jim responds to a question about noni juice and tarceva writing, "In this post from GRACE faculty contributor Dr. Bufi (http://cancergrace.org/forums/index.php/topic,1050.msg5501.html#msg5501) he states "The only time to really think about any form of self-treatment with supplements would be after all cancer treatments have been completed." In another post in which he was discussing Noni juice, he said "because of the antioxidant properties of the juice it is a must to avoid during any type of cancer treatment." - http://cancergrace.org/forums/index.php/topic,438.msg2184.html#msg2184
"All of this is pretty consistent with what the nutritionist at our cancer center told us. I think the careful practice would be to avoid such supplements." found here, http://cancergrace.org/forums/index.php?topic=8008.0
And there is this link referenced by certain spring that sounds very helpful, "There is a fantastically useful database on herbs and botanicals, run out of MSKCC in New York, that has an entry on biotin:
http://www.mskcc.org/cancer-care/herb/biotin " from http://cancergrace.org/lung/topic/tarceva-interaction-with-biotin-biosi…
I hope this helps,
