Hi everyone:
Hope you had a wonderful holiday.
My mom recently relocated to Beaufort SC. She has stage 4 BAC (multifocal) Does anyone have a recommendation of a LC specialist in the savannah or hilton head area? Charleston is another option.
Thanks so much!
Deirdre

Happy Holidays Deirdre, I hope your mom has had a good move. I know how difficult it is in the best of times. Dr. Weiss practices in Chapel Hill NC and may be acquainted with options near your mom. I'll ask him to comment. Dr. Ramalingam in Atlanta may also have input.
All best,
Janine

Deirdre,
I'm sorry that I don't know any lung cancer specialists in your area; hopefully Dr. Ramalingam will know better than me. When I was a resident at BIDMC, I encountered a (then) oncology fellow who is now in private practice in Savannah in Oncology. At the time, I viewed her as both intelligent and compassionate; I have not seen her in years since, but she is my first thought for general oncology care in Savannah. Her name is Dr. Jennifer Yannucci.

There are also some good people at MUSC in Charleston, where Dr. Keisuke Shirai is a young medical oncologist with a focus in lung cancer, and there are also many other good people in related fields there. Dr. Gerard Silvestri is a wonderful pulmonologist there as well, and I believe that their thoracic surgeons there are also very strong.
Good luck.
