I see most of the report/journals on target treatment with EGFR TKI refer to Stage IV patients with shows EGFR mutation positive. If a Non Small Cell Lung Cancer patient has EGFR mutation positive, but tumor is at Stage II or stage III, can it be targeted treatment with EGFR TKI?

Hi boonhanlim,
Generally EGFR TKIs are only used in Stage IV NSCLC. This is largely due to the lack of trial evidence of benefit for use in earlier-stage disease, including some trial results which actually showed that patients with an EGFR mutation fared worse than those who received standard chemotherapy rather than an EGFR TKI. Just last month, Dr. West thoroughly discussed this issue here: http://cancergrace.org/lung/2014/02/02/adjuvant-targ-rx/#more-14224

Thank you Jim, I have go through the topic you directed me and it is useful to me. Dr. West and Craig have answered my question as well. Now I have better understanding on the EGFR TKI.
