Can you talk a bit about the above? My husband has low level or low grade in both lungs, lymph nodes in chest and possibly 2 spots on liver. He is getting cisplatin/etopiside and now radiation to neck where enlarged by tumor. Also waiting for genetic test results. Is this an appropriate course of treatment? Is genetic mutation likely in a 67 otherwise healthy non-smoker? Thank you!!!

Here's are a couple of posts in which we discuss large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma:

It's always reasonable to do genetic testing in never-smoking patients with a lung cancer, but neuroendocrine carcinomas are relatively unlikely to harbor an "actionable" mutation such as EGFR or ALK. We often favor chemotherapy with a combination of a platinum agent (cisplatin or carboplatin) and etoposide.
Good luck.
