My husband has been having abdominal & back pain for a few months. He finally got a CT Scan a couple of days ago. 5.4 cm growth on the tail end of his pancreas extending to the spleen. Liver involvement with various nodules on the lungs. I wanted my husband to have cyberknife treatment but the oncologist say cyberknife won't help my husband and only recommends chemo & radiation. I do not have the biopsy results yet. What is your opinion regarding cyberknife?
Sincerely,
Julie

Hi Julie,
Hi Julie,
Welcome to GRACE. I'm sorry to hear of your husband's diagnosis. In the setting of metastatic pancreatic cancer, systemic treatment with chemotherapy (perhaps combined with radiation as your husband's doctor recommends) is the treatment of choice because in addition to treating the tumor in the pancreas, it is necessary to treat the cancer cells which have spread to other parts of the body. Local therapy such as surgery or radiation alone will not address that issue.
You may find the podcasts at http://cancergrace.org/pancreatic-cancer/ helpful.
Good luck with your huband's treatment, and please let us know if you have further questions.
