Hi!
in Feb 2011 I was diagnosed with NSCLC; Stage was IB - 4.5 cm tumor. Tumor was resected (lobectomy); clear margins were achieved; all lymph nodes were negative for malignancy. I also had 4 rounds of chemo (Cisplatin-Alimta) After 3 years of clean scans; the most recent one has "wedge shaped consolidation which could be slowly resolving infiltrate or infarct. No emboli; no new densities, nodules". I had experienced slight SOB during intense cardio phases of my weight lifting bootcamp (have been doing this for 2 yrs). Cardiac workup reports indicate excellent cardiac health; no cardiac effusions. I am not immune compromised. I am terrified that it is a relapse. My apt with my onc is in 3 weeks - until then - what can you say to me to give me hope??????

Hi,
Probably the two most encouraging statements I can make are that after 3 years a recurrence has become much less likely, and that while radiologists are usually quick to label everything cancer, that was not done in your case, meaning that it really didn't look like cancer. Lots of non-cancer issues can have the appearance described here, including infection and inflammation, and I hope that's what's been seen here.
