First time poster. Im am I have seen many posts regarding oncotype and people wanting to have mamma print after an oncotype test. I am in the opposite situation. My oncologist and breast surgeon were in a disagreement about which test to utilize. My oncologist wanted the oncotype and my surgeon wanted the mamma print. Somehow the surgeon's opinion won out and my labs were sent to mamma print. My results came back with a low risk of recurrence; however I'm not entirely at ease. It seems that the general consensus amongst oncologists is to rely on Oncotype first and I've never had that test done. I just want to be sure that I'm getting the most accurate information. I brought this up to my oncologist and he didn't really seem to have an answer for me as whether or not it was wise to only do the mamma print test. I'm meeting with another oncologist next week to see if I can get a straight answer, but would appreciate any insight as to whether it is prudent to rely solely on mamma print. I am 38 years old. After my mastectomy, I was considered stage 2, ER pos., PR pos., HER2 neg.

Welcome to GRACE. It's not really clear that one test is better than the other, although Dr. Cianfrocca has written:
"Oncotype DX and Mammaprint are both ways of looking at the genes in a woman’s breast cancer to try to determine the risk of recurrence without chemotherapy and to try to predict how much chemotherapy will reduce that risk. One of the limitations of Oncotype DX testing is the “intermediate risk” category. If the score falls into this category, the magnitude of benefit from chemotherapy is uncertain; so uncertain that a trial was conducted randomizing women with scores of 11-25 to chemotherapy vs no chemotherapy. Unfortunately, results from that trial are not available yet.
