I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Adenocarcinoma EGRF mutation exon 19 deletion in August 2015. Have been on Tarceva for 4 months. Original scan showed no mets to bones. Just had a scan 12/18/15 showing shrinkage of the lung tumor and clear lymph nodes, but there was new mets to bones. How can there be regression in one area but progression in another? Am seeing oncologist again next week for next step. Confused.

Welcome to GRACE. Congratulations on the shrinkage you've seen from Tarceva. It's possible that the bone mets represent what's referred to as a "mixed response", in which some areas of disease respond while others do not. However, it's also possible that while the bone mets did not appear on the initial scan, they became visible before treatment started or began to take effect. It may be recommended that you continue Tarceva and scan again after a fairly short interval to check for further response or possible progression.
