My Doctor ordered a CT chest on me this week complaining of S.O.B. And at the reading of the CT report the radiologist noted a Nobule greater than 8mm at the bases of my lung. Should I ask for a open lung biopsy
To see if it something serious or chance it and wait several months to see if it grows more ...

Hi mmcgriff01,
Hi mmcgriff01,
Welcome to GRACE. I'm sorry that the result of your scan is causing such concern. If the nodule is close to 8 mm in size, not only is it unlikely to be causing your shortness of breath, but it's also a pretty small nodule to try to biopsy. In addition, many patients have solitary lung nodules which do not represent lung cancer or anything serious. Dr. West has written about which nodules are most suspicious here.
With a nodule of this size, absent anything which raises a red flag, watching and waiting is a typical (albeit nerve-wracking) approach. In the meantime perhaps further workup can be done to determine an alternate cause for your SOB.
