I have recently been diagnosed with non mutinous bac. I live in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Can you please recommend the best place for me to get help with this. I am able to travel where ever ne essay to get the best care. Thank you very much
golfadkt, I found your 2 topics and merged them. Do you want to know who the leaders are in the BAC? Our own Dr. West fits that description. If you want to stay closer to home and don't live near Seattle a medical center with specialty in lung cancer can likely provide what you need. The US News and World Report puts out the top ranked hospitals by specialty each year. Here's a link. http://health.usnews.com/best-hospitals/rankings/cancer
Yes I have read just about everything that dr west has posted. I was wondering who he would recommend . I am most recently under the care of a thorasic surgeon at Froedert hospital and I wondered if he was familiar with any one here?
I am not a doctor and don't know much about BAC, but I was treated and am being followed up on at Froedtert. You don't say what/how much you have had done to date. I am assuming you are with their Cancer Center. I know they used a team approach to come up with a plan for me.You don't mention this which surprises me. Everything I have heard about them at least in this area is excellent. A few more details might be helpful. Either way, I was very pleased with my care, from the doctors to all of the nurses both in the clinic and in the hospital. If you choose to stay near home I believe this would be a good place. Remember they are also affiliated with the Medical College of Wisconsin and it really is a major center. When I first contacted the Cancer Center I was assigned a doctor that they believed would be the best fit for my diagnosis. I have no doubt they would/have done the same for you. I hope you can find the answers you need and a hospital that you can be confortable with in their care. --mikem
Thanks sooooo much for your info. I am only recently diagnosed and have had no treatment yet. I only recently was biopsied with the super dimensional broncoscopy procedure. I was shocked to learn of my diagnosis. I have at this time no symptoms. I was a former smoker 21years ago. Am reasonably fit snd healthy at the moment. Dr Mario gisparri is my thorasic surgeon and dr Julie biller is my pulmonary doctor. As of yet I do not have an oncologist. The tumor board at Froedert was consulted. At the present time we are in a watch and wait mode. Bac is a strange bird that can be a very indolent slow grower or can take off to an invasive lung cancer.
Dr. Gasparri was my surgeon also. No complaints. He was willing to spend a lot of time explaining things. I hope you keep us posted as things move along and I hope that your BAC stays slow for years to come. -- mikem
There are several great docs in Chicago. Drs. Jyoti Patel or Melissa Johnson at Northwestern are favorites of mine, and Dr. Phil Bonomi at Rush is a leader in the field as well, as well as Dr. Tom Hensing at North Shore Health Systems in Evanston, affiliated with Univ. of Chicago. They're all lung cancer experts who also have very good judgment and are caring docs.
I also have family in Miami Florida and would be able to go there if I end up needing surgery. My pulmonary doctor states to me that she does not have any faith in Florida health care. Is there doctors you can recommend for me there? Thanks so much in advance.
Dr. Rogerio Lilenbaum at Cleveland Clinic in Weston, really not far from there, is excellent and an absolute expert. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to a member of my own family.
Dr. Luis Raez at Univ. of Miami also has an expertise in lung cancer as well.
And there are several terrific lung cancer docs at Moffitt in Tampa, but that's a ways away from Miami.
One further question. My primary care doctor is agreeable to sending out all the info on my bac including scans for a written opinion on how to proceed next . I believe he will be willing to send for this opinion anywhere I request him to. Are you able to give an opinion this way ? If not, could you give us the name of who you would recommend at md Anderson . Thank you so very much.
I'm about to launch a telemedicine service for this purpose and will be happy to do that and can do it without you traveling. I'll reach out to you via e-mail, and we can take things from there.
This is incredible! You are incredible! I await your email and direction on how we go about getting your personal opinion on my case. From the bottom of my heart thank you for all you contribute to the world.
I have spoken to you briefly in 2009 shortly after the surgery. They removed 1/3 of my left lung after they spot nodule of bean size. It was diagnosed with BAC. I am 52 year old non smoke and eat healthy and excercise regularly. I grew up in China and came to US in 80s. But do travel regularly to China. They were no any thing new came up according my doctors did ct scans. Last week I did another ct scans after 2014. It shows lots of fluids around my left lung airway. It caught my doctor by surprise. I was immediately admitted to hospital to have a procedure to take the fluids out for testing. Last Friday, 500 ml fluids brown was taken out. I started to feel short of breath and chest pain. The question is: is my cancer come back after 7 years ? Do you have anybody to recommend who specializes in this type of cancer in the bay area ? Much thanks for your prompt response.
FYI, Lei, you might want to post on your own and not in someone else's post. You may have a hard time finding it again, since it's not your post. Take care, Judy
