Welcome to Grace. I'm sorry you have the need to be here but we are happy to answer any questions you have about breast cancer and BC treatment. I hope you are getting what you need and will be out of treatment asap.
On a personal note, my niece has been in treatment for a year and has done very well. Her specific situation suggested a double mastectomy and oophorectomy would put her in the best position for no recurrence. She had very little nausea with chemo that meds were able to mitigate when needed. She did get fatigued towards the end but she also worked during the whole process. She even came to see her head as a symbol of power and even though her dress leans to the conservative she rocked her spike cut like she was Annie Lennox. She will be taking a hormone pill for a couple of years and be done with it.
All the best,
Janine
I joined GRACE as a caregiver for my husband who had a Pancoast tumor, NSCLC stage III in 2009. He had curative chemo/rads then it was believed he had a recurrence in the spine/oligometastasis that was radiated. He's 10 years out from treatment.
Hi Everyone, I am Ronnie Cantu. I am very new to this forum and I want to get the news and updates of Alternative Therapies via this forum. I’m looking forward to knowing something or sharing something about Alternative Therapies.
I appreciate your interest in alternative therapies. We have a partner who studies and teaches yoga therapy. You can find her videos on her youtube channel Living Yoga Therapy. Her videos focus on postures and sequences of postures that address a spectrum of abilities levels people experience during cancer treatment, and I like them too.
Alternative therapies by definition aren't proven anti-cancer treatments through the scientific method which is the proof our faculty uses in their practices. Many of them can provide quite a bit of relief to cancer symptoms and relief to treatment side effects. John's Hopkins has a good description of alternative med here and integrative med here.
Most importantly you'd want to discuss options with your onc, some nutrients can have damaging or lessening effects on certain treatments. Too, do your due diligence to make sure you're working with a reputable practitioner. Your cancer center might even have access to or be able to suggest options.
Thanks Ronnie,
Janine
