Potential Pancoast Tumor symptoms - taking over my life

Good afternoon all,

I feel terrible for writing this, especially when there are so many of you bravely fighting this.

I started experiencing horrific upper left pain in my back/shoulder area 5 weeks ago; so I went to the A&E. Just given codeine. 5 weeks on it has gone into my neck, if I tilt my neck to the left side I can feel it pull; sudden movements hurt; I get stabbing pains randomly under my armpit, and my left hand can become sore. The pain is no longer intense; and I have not taken anything for it since; my left neck and Supraclavicular feel tight/swollen. I have also been getting dizzy spells - it can feel like I'm on a boat. Not sleeping and constantly crying - suspect LC....

Hi flowerpot, Welcome to Grace.  I'm sorry you're having these symptoms.  The good news is the vast majority of the time these types of symptoms are not caused by tumors.  Getting a workup from a doctor is the only way to make sure.

I hope you're neck and back are better soon.

Best of luck,

Janine

I joined GRACE as a caregiver for my husband who had a Pancoast tumor, NSCLC stage III in 2009. He had curative chemo/rads then it was believed he had a recurrence in the spine/oligometastasis that was radiated. He's 10 years out from treatment.
