Two Years After....

Well, here it is two years later, and once more Giving Tuesday. As I made my donation this year, I once more thought back to my early days after Sara's diagnosis, and how you all seemed to give the perfect balance of advice, information, and concern. There were so many days where I felt I could take some deep breaths and move on because of all of your help. Thank you for continuing to inform and support!

I am well engaged in life these days, and just came back from spending a week visiting by daughter, son-in-law, and two grandchildren for a week at Thanksgiving. I also have been visiting by son out in rural Missouri, just finished being in a community theater musical, and still busy fixing and cleaning up the house. Hard to believe that there are still so many pockets of places in the house that have gone virtually untouched for two years. Tackling them all step by step. And still baking and making treats - been doing a lot of chocolate truffles these days!

May you all have holidays that are bright, and filled with love, joy, and laughter.
Happy Holidays - Stan

Operations Director, GRACE

Stan - Thank you once again for your kind words.  Thank you as well for your donation.  As you know, your donation helps us to exist and continue to fulfill our mission.  It is important to every one of us working at GRACE, including myself.  This is a labor of love.

We are so glad we could be there for you.  It is hard to know often how to help - sometimes just a friendly cyber hug is all one needs.  But these words we continue to stand by - Education is Medicine.  A feeling of control in your situation - no matter how small - can help you take those breaths and keep your head above water.  We hope to do that for our community.  I am happy and humbled that we were able to help you.

Thank you for keeping us updated - I love that you are busy with life and family.  And community theater!  I love love love that.  I am sure all your friends and family are loving those chocolate truffles.

Happy Holidays to you also, and hugs to you and your family - Take the best care of each other during this holiday season.

Hugs -

Denise

Operations Director for GRACE. Have worked with cancerGRACE.org since July 2009.  Became involved as a caregiver to my best friend, and quickly came to see that GRACE is filling a need in the area of cancer education.

Hi Stan, It's good to hear your voice and know your cheesecakes are still making the rounds.  Though I'm sure startling, I imagine some of those little pockets of the house as little treasures.  I remember your daughter's wedding, you posted a pic of you and Sara walking her down the aisle.  I'm so glad to know you spent last week with the not-so-little family.  I too, love love that you're doing community theater.

Thank you for giving and for the kind words.  Grace was here for me too and with our excellent staff, Denise, Amy, Alex, and Maria I'm sure we'll continue to share useful information and hope when you're not sure that tomorrow can be a better day.

The next time I make bon bons I'm going to think of you :)

Take care,

Janine

I joined GRACE as a caregiver for my husband who had a Pancoast tumor, NSCLC stage III in 2009. He had curative chemo/rads then it was believed he had a recurrence in the spine/oligometastasis that was radiated. He's 10 years out from treatment.
