Hi everyone. Having just come back from visiting my son for Thanksgiving (and nudged by your annual appeal notice) I wanted to send you all a note. As always, I continue to think back fondly to all the people at GRACE and the amazing support they gave to me both before and after Sara's passing. Things are going well for me. I am dating a wonderful woman - and I am blessed to have another great relationship in my life. I visited my son for Thanksgiving (In Missouri) and my daughter the week before (in Rhode Island). My two grandkids in Rhode Island are a joy, and I have many friends here in Chicago.
I know cancer even more intimately now, as I have had my own bout with colon cancer. PSA was just a bit high, had a biopsy, and voila - there it was. But, it was caught very early and I had 6 weeks of every weekday radiation just before summer. Hopefully it's all gone now - we monitor PSA and hope it keeps going down. Rachel, the woman I am with, has been a remarkable support to me throughout. Finding love again with a woman who is so caring and gracious give me great reason for thanks. So, I hope all of you have wonderful holidays, filled with many blessings of your own- with health happiness, and lots of joy.
As always, everyone at GRACE will have my everlasting gratitude and thanks.
Happy Holidays and lots of warm winter love, Stan

Hi Stan! Good to hear from you.
Hi Stan! So good to hear from you. I'm sorry for the late response. I too have been out of town with family and missed your post, probably because I was checking from my phone and am of a "certain age".
It sounds like you've had quite a roller coaster year. I'm so sorry you've gone through cancer yourself and hope this is the end of that journey.
I'm happy you've met someone who is gracious and caring; another love! and you spend time with your children and grands. How wonderful it is to have family and people who know and love you.
Thank you for updating us on your life. It truly means a lot.
Take care,
Janine
I joined GRACE as a caregiver for my husband who had a Pancoast tumor, NSCLC stage III in 2009. He had curative chemo/rads then it was believed he had a recurrence in the spine/oligometastasis that was radiated. He's 10 years out from treatment.

Hi Stan!! and happiest of holidays!
Operations Director, GRACE
It is so good to hear from you! And I am so happy to hear that your holidays have been good and that you are doing well. It sounds like your life is full with family and friends - and that is what it is all about, in my mind.
I am sorry to hear about your bouts with colon cancer, but am glad you have support around you and are in -what sounds like- a good place.
You have our thanks as well -- it really does remind us why we do what we do to hear from people whom we have helped. It is the best holiday gift ever to hear updates from people that we know from GRACE.
Take care, Stan! and please keep in touch.
Denise
Operations Director for GRACE. Have worked with cancerGRACE.org since July 2009. Became involved as a caregiver to my best friend, and quickly came to see that GRACE is filling a need in the area of cancer education.
