I just wanted to share with everyone that my husband and I had the pleasure of attending the National Lung Cancer Partnership's annual Lung Cancer Advocacy Summit it Nashville this weekend. It was so exciting and informative. We learned so much and were given the opportunity to tour the Vanderbilt Research Lab. It was exciting to meet the scientists who are working on a cure for us.
I also wanted to mention that our own Dr. West is held in such high regard by all of the people I met there that either knew him personally or who were familiar with GRACE. And believe me, the ones who weren't familiar certainly know about it now! I was proud to see that in the patient booklets that are handed out, GRACE was the 2nd resourse listed, behing the Partnership themselves.

That is so kind of you to say. I'm glad the event was so valuable. The National Lung Cancer Partnership was founded by a longtime friend of mine in the lung cancer field, Dr. Joan Schiller. She's a real inspiration, and the Partnership is a very strong organization.

Thanks for sharing this, Sherry. Our Dr. West is a real inspiration to all of us, as are the faculty he so tirelessly recruits to share their time and knowledge with us. GRACE really is what the acronym spells out :)

You're welcome, Dr. West. I had the pleasure of sitting next to Dr.Schiller at dinner the first night. She was the sweetest person.
She spoke several times during the weekend and she was an awesome speaker. She truly kept her audience in mind and we learned so much from her. Her passion for lung cancer research and treatment was contagious.

Sherry I am so impressed that you went, after all you have been through recently. Thanks for getting out there for the rest of us.

You're very welcome, Certain Spring. It was certainly an honor for us to go and gave me a reason to get up and get better. I am so excited to start fundraising for research and advocacy work. It is so frightening to me to find out how many people don't know about the resourses that are out there. Not to mention how sadly underfunded lung cancer research is. I know I will never raise a significant amount, but I was told that every research hour costs about $25. I hope I can make a difference.
