I was diagnosed with Endometrial Stromal Sarcoma in March '12. Stage 2b. I am treated with Letrozole 2.5mg daily. I understand why a breast cancer drug is used as treatment for my cancer because like some breast cancers ESS tumors are er/pr positive tumors. My question is about a drug called Faslodex. It is listed for women whose disease has progressed or recurred on anti estrogen medication but whose tumors are ER/PR positive. To be treated with Falsodex does the tumor need to have lost the er/pr recepters? How does Faslodex work? I know ESS is not listed as a cancer discussion on this site but so little info is out there I am hoping you wil be willing to answer my questions.Thank you.

Faslodex (fulvestrant) is an estrogen receptor antagonist, meaning that it binds to and blocks the effect of estrogen binding to its receptor by looking similar and binding to but not stimulating the receptor. It is approved for breast cancer that has significant expression of the estrogen receptor. You can learn more about it through this link:
