Dear Team,
my mother had breast cancer 5 yrs back.compleyed surgery of breast removal and had harmone therapy for 5 yrs and recently diagnosed with metastasis in bones and adenocarcinoma in lungs
she is given biophosphonates injection for 3 days and currently undergoing radiation therapy for metastasis identified in bones region only
she completed pet ct scan, biopsy, ihc, and ct coronary angiography, chest xray.
we are trying to test EGFR, ALK, ROS1, PDL1 stating that will take 17 days to get results
can anyone suggest viewing reports is chemotherapy only option or immunotheraphy with latest drugs can help to cure her lung cancer.
please advise where to share reports to get guidance on future treatment
she is currently living in india.

Regarding treatment options...

If this is a new lung cancer rather than a recurrence of her breast cancer, then it usually is recommended to wait until the mutation testing is complete before choosing a treatment regimen. If a mutation such as EGFR, ALK or ROS1 is detected, then her doctors will most likely want to start with the appropriate targeted therapy. If not, but PD-L1 expression is high, then immunotherapy is a likely choice. Otherwise, chemotherapy is an often effective option. Examining test reports and other medical information in order to make a specific suggestion for her is beyond the scope of what we can practically and legally do. But it might be a good idea to get a second opinion, preferably at a cancer center affiliated with a medical school, so that you may feel comfortable that all options have been thoroughly examined.
