My history:
Nov 14 – diagnosed with urothelial carcinoma, tumor removed from ureter, stage 4 because in 2 of 21 lymph nodes.
No need to remove ureter, kidney or bladder.
Jan-Apr 15 – did four rounds of cisplatin and gemzar.
Jun 15 – cystoscopy and cytology clear.
Jul 15 – CT scan of chest and abdomen clear.
Oct 15 – chest x-ray clear
Dec 15 – cystoscopy and cytology clear
Jan 16 - chest CT and CT urogram clear

Oncologist said he doesn’t feel a need for chest x-rays anymore (since the nodule has not changed in a year’s time); I will just get CT scans/urograms every 6 months for a while. (And I’ll still be getting cystoscopy/cytology from my urologist every 6 months).

Of course I feel very fortunate and blessed. I can’t help but wonder if this is the norm though….good results for a year or two after diagnosis, then Wham!, it recurs. I am a member of an on-line community, BCAN (Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network), and there is more bad news than good news among the posters. I realize I don’t have bladder cancer, but my type is so rare there is no other organized group that applies.

I am very grateful for my good test results; just wish the worry would subside. Maybe in 5 years?
Thanks, Marie

I hope so Marie. My husband has had the same problem with accepting he'll possibly grow old. He was diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer, now he's NED. So he also has a very rare type of situation in which no one really knows what will happen. However he feels a little more like he can grow old with each passing scan. What a wild trip for you I know this is.

Thanks Janine, I'm so glad to hear your husband has NED. What a miraculous story, he's an inspiration!
