TREATMENT OPTIONS FOR BRAIN MESTASES - 1255562

My dad was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer in 2011. An MRI last year showed one tumor. He had 10 rounds of whole brain radiation and stereotactic radiosurgery. The radiation did not shrink the tumor. Per the last MRI, the original tumor had grown an additional centimeter, and three more tumors were seen.

What other options are available?

I don't know if Dr. Loiselle, as a radiation oncologist, might suggest some alternative, but I don't know of any more rabbits to pull out of the hat. I'm afraid that the only approach I think would be a strong consideration is stereotactic radiation (SRS), if there might be a value in repeating it (and I don't know the success rate of repeat SRS after progression through the first treatment), but it's definitely concerning when the cancer grows through both whole brain radiation and SRS as well. I wish I had a good answer to suggest.
