I wanted to let others who may need help paying for expensive cancer drugs that I received next day confirmation assistants with co-pay of Tarceva. Herbie and I had Medicare Prescription D (drug) coverage and the Tarceva co-pay was about $290/month. Chronic Disease Fund (www.cdfund.org) paid $280 and I paid $10/month. I faxed our tax forms one afternoon and received the answer next day.

They are located in Plano, TX ---telephone # (877) 968-7233. Help is based on income/number of house hold members, etc. Help can be given for travel, fuel and lodging also. Assistants is given for cancer and other diseases too. This is a great charitable group---look at their site if you need help.Of course they need confirmation from your doctor too.

Moderators---I am not sure where this should be posted---please move to correct area. Also is it ok to post this info?

Thank you Anne! This is invaluable information. I think it should go to the accessing care forum. What do you think? Maybe we can have it sticky too but we'll need to get permission for that.
D had help with copays also. I forget how much it would have been but if I remember correctly individual blue prescription (he has medicare now) topped out after the first month or two. Tarceva manufacturer may have put me in touch with the same group as you. You've gone a giant step further and shared with at least Grace's US community. I wonder if they are able to help people out of the country, I'd guess not since they are so wide ranging in distributions.

THANKS,
Janine

Catdander---move this where ever you think is best. I hope someone can benefit from this source. Maybe others can list where they received help.
I noticed on Chronic Disease site they help with air line travel and help those that have no insurance. Thought that may help if someone is accepted on a clinical trial away from home. The social worker at our oncology office filled out the info pertaining to diagnosis/Dr., etc.

I still have a few Tarceva pills 150mg and 100mg I wish I knew someone personally on Tarceva that I could give them to since I know how expensive they are.

forherbie, is it just for certain area's I live in Ohio. With the cost of Xalkori upto 12,000. Now and I'm not sure how much AARP Medicare Complete pays. When I first went on it my CoPay was $2,750.00 and not sure what it is right now. I was told I was out of my allotted amount. I will now have to reapply. I'm sure it has more to do with just issuing a recent financial so they are sure you still qualify. But it is always nice to have backup. I get so freaked out at the thought my CoPay will stop. I mean really freaked! So thanks for the information!

aunttootsie001----I am in Florida---don't know if help is limited to certain areas. Why not call them for information----they were always very helpful the few times I called. They even notified me asking why I hadn't filled the prescription for the month. My reason was Herbie was hospitalized and using Tarceva from the hospital pharmacy. Hope they can help you if your co-pay runs out.
