Update on Recurrence and Boston trip! - 1258440

As you know, I've had a local recurrence after 2.5 years. I had my mediastinoscopy in Boston last Wednesday and there is no lymph node involvement. I've had the brain MRI and all clear there also. So on to surgery. So hoping this will be a VATS and not turn into a thoracotomy. Nothing I can do if it does. I had some pretty severe pain after waking up from the anesthesia and have been told by many that they did not experience that. My blood pressure skyrocketed, no doubt due too the pain. But all was under control before I left the hospital that day. The position they put you in made me feel like I had whiplash. Should have my surgery by the first week of September. So happy to read that there is no lymph node or brain involvement. . .but sorry to hear about the pain after the procedure.

Now...let's get on with getting this nasty beast out of your body once and for all. . .

Judy, I know you advocated for yourself pretty aggressively to make all of this happen, and I know your determination will bring you through. You can count on many good vibes and prayers from many sources, which can't hurt. Thank you for keeping us updated on your progress. You're a longstanding member of the community, and more likely to post about someone else rather than yourself. It is nice to know what is going on with you, though I wish it were reports of NED instead. We will all be crossing fingers and toes for you.

Thanks all for your prayers and well wishes. Surgery scheduled for Aug. 29th in Boston with Dr. Sugarbaker. Looking forward to just getting it over with, though I'm also a nervous wreck-LOL! I will survive!
