Findings of " Uncertain Significance" - 1259576

double trouble
Posts:573

From my PET/CT 09/30, the bulk of which was good news;

“Focally increased activity in the right diaphragmatic crus, max SUV 3.9, which appears thickened as well, and is of uncertain significance.”

I did some poking around, and it looks like this is a logical place for mets to occur.

http://intl-radiographics.rsna.org/content/28/5/1289.full

“Malignancies of the diaphragmatic crura occur via local or hematogenous spread of tumor. Tumor extension from malignant intrathoracic processes such as pleural mesothelioma and metastatic lung or esophageal malignancies can involve the diaphragmatic crura due to their anatomic proximity.”

Both the Pulmonary and Oncology docs kind of read, ruminated, and then skipped over this one, so I probably shouldn’t worry too much. Still, hard to keep the imagination in check.

I would appreciate any comments.

Debra,

I don't have any additional insight to offer here, I'm sorry to say. Obviously, it's hard to interpret even when the doctors are looking at the images. I think seeing how things change or don't over time will really be helpful in clarifying what's going on.

Good luck.
