Strange chemo side effect - 1268321

Had abdominal surgery in November (ureter reimplantation), started chemo last week (have had two treatments). Seems like my surgery incisions, inside and out, are feeling a little sore. I assumed I was completely healed before starting chemo. Anyone else experience this?
Thanks

Hi Marie,

I hope you're feeling alright, inside and out :)

It's important to know that it takes a very long time to heal completely from surgeries like you had. Being a little sore is normal. Oncologists and surgeons want to know you're healthy and healed enough to withstand chemo. So I'd not assume there's something wrong. My husband is an example. He started chemo/radiation 3 weeks post thoracotomy.

It depends on how anxious the onc is to start chemo though 8 weeks out from surgery sounds very reasonable.

Having said all that it's always important to let your team know how you're feeling. Give the onc and or the surgeon a call to let them know of your worries. It's your life we're talking about so don't be shy.

Keep us posted and good luck,
Janine

The experience of chemo is as individual and unique as the range of diagnoses. This journey isn’t one on which the expected happens, simply by the fact that its nature is to be unexpected. Please tel doctor about strange side effects and experience.
