My mother has been detected with Lung cancer with brain mets. She got WBRT for 5 days from 17 july to 21 july ,2013. She is EGFR mutation positive. She is on Gefitinib from 27th of July,2013. She has below side effects
1. loss of appetite
2. nausea
3. sore throat
4. vomiting
5. cough
6. wheezing
My mother has been week. She eats almost nothing but drinks milk a little bit. Whatever medicine has doctors provided, it showing no effect. Can we stop Gefitinib for some days to check if the above problems are because of Gefitinib?

That's a typical and very reasonable approach. When someone is experiencing side effects that may be due to the treatment, the underlying disease, or some other unrelated, potentially transient issue, I will often hold the drug and just see whether things improve. Side effects from EGFR inhibitors like Iressa (gefitinib) typically improve within days, so you're likely to to know in a week or less whether things are improving and, if so, consider alternatives.
