Inguinal hernia while in hospice - 1250996

My husband's inguinal hernia has gotten worse as he has been less active and loosing muscle -it's now about tennis ball sized when he's standing. The hospice nurse seemed concerned... "wow" and checked with our onc, who said surgery was not and option and didn't really have any suggestions of what to do. Other than going online to purchase a support, do you think we need a second opinion or just watch for complications?

This is a situation that is really outside of what we could advise on. Our expertise is cancer management, and the question of whether surgery is feasible is really dependent on input from the surgeon and other people directly involved. Questions of whether someone should have more urgent surgery are best handled by people who can evaluate a patient directly. It's a pretty minor surgery, but not without some small risk, which would be justified if survival is expected to be long enough to recover from that and receive the benefit of having undergone the surgery.
