My dad had finished 32 sessions of IMRT radiation when he unexpectedly developed a condition which led to a chest x-ray. The radiologist, unknowing of SCLC tumor in his left lung, commented that his right lung was clear, but hid left mid lung zone (around where the tumor was located) had a "streaky opacity that likely represents atelectasis, however, developing parenchymal process cannot be excluded."
Is this language suggestive of the development of radiation pneumonitis?

It could possibly represent radiation pneumonitis, but it's a nonspecific finding that could be anything or nothing. A streaky opacity just represents an area of something in the lung, or even just an area of poorly inflated lung.
