My dad was diagnosed with stage IV NSCLC (adenocarcinoma) on Dec 2rd, 2014, EGFR EXON 21 positive, CT showed the tumor was 64 X 32 MM. He started taking Tarceva (150mg) on 12/12/2014, had first CT scan on 05/01/2015, CT shows the tumor was 18 X 8 MM. The side effect of Tarceva is being annoying for him, had very serious skin rash on the face, and all over the chest and back. Had blood check last week, indicates that Creatine Kinase was higher than normal (235.6 U/L). Im wondering is cardiac toxicity part of the side effect of Tarceva beside skin rash? And what can we do before it gets worse?

Hi humble,
Hi humble,
Welcome to GRACE. I'm glad to hear that your dad has responded so well to Tarceva, although as he's experienced, the side effects can be tough. I haven't really heard anything about Tarceva and high CK levels, and Dr. West said this about that in the context of lung cancer:
"I know of know oncologist, whether a lung cancer specialist or general oncologist, who has ever done that or even mentioned CK with regard to lung cancer." - http://cancergrace.org/forums/index.php?topic=4250.msg25252#msg25252
Dr. Lacouture's presentation on managing skin issues from treatment may be helpful: http://cancergrace.org/cancer-treatments/2011/09/08/dr-mario-lacouture-…
