Dr. West,
I haven't posted in a few years since my mother passed, but I knew this had to shared with the GRACE community. Please place it in the appropriate forum.
Mike Hughes of the Martin Agency (think GEICO geckos, cavemen, and "hump day") was a non-smoker diagnosed with lung cancer in 1995. He lived with it until today. And blogged about it once he started hospice.
He wrote his obituary to go up upon his death, and it's an amazing reflection on his blessings.

Much of it is personal, and if you're not in the advertising community or from Richmond, the names aren't familiar. But do yourself a favor and start at the beginning of his blog.
And if you know someone who is trying to quit smoking, forward this:

Because getting even one person to quit is better than saving 15% in 15 minutes any day.

Thanks for sharing this, mcbriz. I found it elsewhere on the inter webs and managed to read some of his (long but well-written) posts. He seemed to definitely be living, and didn't focus too much on the medical aspects of his disease. I'll have to find the beginning, as I read the more current posts.
