Help, having originally been suspected of having depression my specialist has run a number of tests and said my symptoms are not due to depressive or psychological illness but my symptoms could be down to high cortisol due to concomitant ectopic ACTH. I have looked this up and think he is referring to a tumour as he did a CXR just after giving me my results. The CXR is normal. I first seen my specialist on 13 Feb 2015, due to malaise, loss of weight and suspect depression. As I have had weight loss with this I am worried about cancer as most medical sites says ectopic ACTH normally causes weight gain unless there is a malignancy. I am not on any medication. Is this likely to be lung cancer? I do have smoking history and gave up two years ago when I was 53. I am in a panic now having looked up this condition. Sorry to trouble you with my worries.

I'm sorry you're having such a difficult time. Loss of appetite and weight loss are common symptoms of advanced cancer and would most normally be picked up by doctors. If you think your doctor is missing something a visit to a specialist or other doctor may be in order.
We really can't be of much help in this type of situation as our focus is on diagnosed cancers.
I hope you get relief very soon.
