Dr. West
I have searched for the site that I used earlier but it seems to be closed. My name is Jane and my original question back in May was how many trial chemo agents should be tried before a person just gives up.
I had several nice replays from Dr. West and others. I would like to give you an update on my situation.
My name is Jane and I was diagosed in July 2009 with adenocarcinoma, subsequent LUL. followed by chemo. was NED for 11 months and then developed 2 brain turmors which were treated with Gamma knife. so far NED on the brain. however multi mets to both lungs and the left kidney along with a T 7 fracture due to osteoporosis along with many other osteoporosis issues in symphasis pubis area.
To bring you up to date I have just finished my 6th different chemo routine. And I contacted Dr. West regarding his thoughts on what the benefit might be or statistics for success. He replied at least 3 times which I so appreciated. Now I would like to give him the outcome but don't know which site to use. So I will just continue on this site with the information.
I finished 4 rounds of Gemcitibine/Navelbine on 7/18.
Tumor marker results from start of treatment to end= CA 125 = 700 85 70 64 45 32
CEA = 37.8 32.4 25.0 58.8 25.9 24.7
CT scan of chest, pelvis, abdomen basically unchanged.
No miracle and Dr. West didn't think there would be one. However, he did say that stability would still be a good result considering my history.
Just wanted to let him know how it all went. I'm so happy to be done. I just hope this gives me several months
Please move this post where it should go. I would just like to notified where you moved it.
Thank You, Jane

FYI, On the right side of the pages you will find forum replies listed and you can click on any of them.
On the top of the pages you can find blog/posts that are short articles that our faculty have written.
And finally, just "click" around. It's how most of us learn what's behind the scenes here.

Jane,
Thanks for the follow up, and I'm very pleased to hear about your result. Indeed, we're generally pretty darn happy with stability, and I'm also encouraged by your declining tumor markers. I hope you've also tolerated the treatment well.
I'm sorry that the site format has changed some, but we have no plans to change it further, and we're hoping it'll be easier for people. The new way does make it easier for us to move things around if needed.
Come by anytime, especially if you've got good news to relay (though we're happy to try to answer questions and address problems...).
