Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Month

Hi, Janine here. I'm on GRACE's Community Outreach Team.

APRIL is Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Month.  I hate that any of us need to know anything about how to manage and live with a cancer diagnosis.  That's why it's good to have expert-mediated info on the subject. Our mission is to empower patients, caregivers, and health professionals to become direct partners in cancer care.

I joined GRACE as a caregiver for my husband who had a Pancoast tumor, NSCLC stage III in 2009. He had curative chemo/rads then it was believed he had a recurrence in the spine/oligometastasis that was radiated. He's 10 years out from treatment.

Be a Part of a Survey Study on Communication

GRACE is helping the University of Washington SPEAC Lab to invite people who have/had oral, head, and neck cancer (with or without total laryngectomy) to answer survey questions.  More information is available at https://sites.uw.edu/speaclab/, including a link to participate in the study.

Worried I have a brain tumor/ cancer.

Hi, I'm hoping to get some advice. I've been having quite a few medical problems lately and I'm constantly stressing over it now and worrying myself sick. Sorry in advance that this is long and kind of all over the place.. A month ago or so I was having chest pain on and off and my doctor put me on medication for an ulcer, which seemed to help some. But then a little over 2 weeks ago I started having horrible upper abdominal pain, I was seen in the ER three times before being admitted for very high liver enzymes and high bilirubin. They tested me for hepatitis, which was negative.

GRACE would like to start conversations about other types of Cancers! We are hopeful to begin providing the same great information for Head and Neck Cancers. Feel free to reach out through these forums. We are happy you are here.

Operations Director for GRACE. Have worked with cancerGRACE.org since July 2009.  Became involved as a caregiver to my best friend, and quickly came to see that GRACE is filling a need in the area of cancer education.
